NFPL Semifinals Recap: BRUSA and Futsal Factory Academy Punch Tickets to the Final

NFPL SEMIFINALS RECAP: BRUSA AND FUTSAL FACTORY ACADEMY PUNCH TICKETS TO THE FINAL

Two teams. One goal left.

Futsal Factory Academy and BRUSA FC are officially heading to the NFPL Championship, after strong semifinal performances on opposite sides of the country. In Michigan, Futsal Factory put on a clinic. In Arizona, BRUSA survived a thriller. The stage is now set for an epic showdown on Saturday, April 26, where the Southwest champions will host the title match.

Futsal Factory Academy 7-1 Cadence SFC

There was little doubt from the opening whistle: Futsal Factory Academy came to dominate.

Gui Ramos opened the scoring in the first minute, giving the home side immediate momentum. Though Cadence equalized just five minutes later with a beautifully taken free kick by Jonathan Junior, that would be their only moment of celebration.

From there, it was all Futsal Factory. Drew Ducker finished off a give-and-go with David Magalhães to reclaim the lead, and then Magalhães took over. The match MVP was involved in everything, dancing past defenders and setting up Marlon de Freitas for a tap-in to make it 3-1. Renan Paiva added a fourth before halftime, assisted by goalkeeper Robert Damron, as the home side took a 4-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, things remained even until a red card to Cadence shifted the rhythm again. Futsal Factory capitalized, with Magalhães adding two goals of his own and Ramos netting his second to seal a convincing 7-1 win.

Futsal Factory Academy now heads to their second straight NFPL Championship, looking every bit the part of a title contender.

BRUSA FC 6-5 COLORADO FUTSAL ACADEMY

The second semifinal brought the chaos, and BRUSA FC survived a rollercoaster to earn their spot in the final.

Kaue Martins stunned Colorado just seconds into the match, scoring straight off the kickoff from a Yan Nascimento assist. Though Colorado responded through Pedro Montes, BRUSA fired back again with Martins’ second goal of the night, again assisted by Nascimento, put the home team up 2-1.

Midway through the first half, Micah Vasey earned a penalty, which Alexis Flores calmly buried. But Colorado responded instantly. Jesus Guillen smashed a rocket into the top corner, and just seconds later, Jorge Castellanos cleaned up a rebound to tie it 3-3.

Colorado then took the lead just before the half, converting a well-designed free kick that saw Beckan Ovalles set up Castellanos again, giving Colorado a 4-3 advantage at the break.

But momentum flipped in the second half.

Vasey opened the half with a clinical strike, assisted again by Nascimento, before Nascimento scored one himself, pouncing on a deflected shot to give BRUSA a 5-4 lead. With Colorado chasing, Matheus Lima added a crucial sixth goal with under five minutes to play, enough of a cushion to withstand a late push.

Though Guillen pulled one back in the final seconds on a free kick, it wasn’t enough. BRUSA held on for a 6-5 win and now books their ticket to the NFPL Championship, where they’ll host the final.
