Launched in 2018, the NFPL has established a competitive Futsal landscape for both Men and Women playing for 12 different clubs across 6 states.
Founding club members were ABK Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor Mudpuppies, Columbus Futsal, FC Tryzub, Futsal Indy,Lansing City and Mit West Futsal.
On January 5, 2019 Ann Arbor Mudpuppies and Futsal Indy played to an 11-11 tie in the first-ever NFPL game.

ABK Grand Rapids defeated Mit West Futsal 9-4 that same night.
Season two featured three new teams as the league grew to 10. Akron Vulcans, Cadence SFC and Compass United Bari '91 joined the original seven who all returned for 2019-20.
Unfortunately the second season was suspended on March 12, 2000 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire 2000-21 season was also cancelled.
Expansion for the 2021-22 season included Ginga FS of Cincinnati and Joy Athletic Club who are based in the Twin Cities. Akron Vulcans, Compass United, FC Tryzub, Lansing City and Mit West did not return. Two clubs rebranded prior to the season: Mudpuppies became Futsal Factory Academy while ABK Grand Rapids are now known as Grand Rapids Ole.
NFPL Women’s Division was launched in 2022. The inaugural teams are Grand Rapids Ole, Columbus Futsal, Futsal Indy, and Futsal Factory Academy.
