Matchweek 7 Review: Shaking Up The Standings
MATCHWEEK 7 REVIEW
Matchweek 7 brought three critical matchups that further defined the race for the playoffs in both divisions. Futsal Factory Academy continued their unbeaten streak, Colorado Futsal Academy delivered a record-setting performance, and BRUSA FC battled to a narrow road victory. Here's how it all went down:
Futsal Factory Academy 7-4 Cadence SFC
In a Midwest Division showdown for first place, Futsal Factory Academy defeated Cadence SFC in Grand Rapids at a neutral venue, solidifying their position at the top of the table. The game was competitive early on, with Cadence pushing FFA in the first half. However, FFA’s defensive discipline and second-half dominance helped them pull away for a convincing victory.
Now at 3-0, FFA remains the Midwest Division’s only unbeaten team, while Cadence, at 2-1, will look to rebound in their rematch on March 8.
Colorado Futsal Academy 17-5 New Mexico Flagship FC
Playing in front of their home crowd in Denver, Colorado Futsal Academy put on a clinic against New Mexico Flagship FC, cruising to an emphatic 17-5 victory. The win marks Colorado’s third straight and vaults them to the top of the Southwest Division standings with a dominant +17 goal difference.
For New Mexico, the loss was a significant setback in their playoff push, as they fall to 2-2 and struggle to keep pace with the top two teams. Colorado has firmly established itself as the team to beat in the Southwest.
Santa Fe Gloom 5 - 6 BRUSA FC
In Santa Fe, BRUSA FC earned a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Santa Fe Gloom in one of the weekend’s closest games. The visitors kept their composure late in the match, holding off a spirited comeback attempt from the struggling Gloom. BRUSA improves to 2-0 and moves into second place in the Southwest Division.
For Santa Fe, the loss marks their fourth straight defeat, dropping them to 1-5. Despite flashes of promise, they remain at the bottom of the table with time running out to salvage their season.
Key Standings Updates:
- Midwest Division: Futsal Factory Academy (3-0) stays perfect, while Cadence SFC (2-1) sits in second after their first loss. Inter Detroit (0-4) remains winless.
- Southwest Division: Colorado Futsal Academy (3-1) leads the way, with BRUSA FC (2-0) climbing into second. New Mexico Flagship FC (2-2) drops to third, and Santa Fe Gloom (1-5) remains at the bottom.
Looking Ahead
Matchweek 8 will feature just one game, but it’s a big one in the Southwest Division. Colorado Futsal Academy (3-1) will host BRUSA FC (2-0) in Denver in what promises to be an exciting matchup between two of the division’s top teams.
With Colorado riding a three-game winning streak and BRUSA looking to stay undefeated, the stakes are high for playoff positioning. Will Colorado continue their dominance at home, or can BRUSA make a statement on the road? Tune in on February 15 to find out!
