Matchweek 6 Review: Back to Back Home Victories
MATCHWEEK 6 REVIEW
Matchweek 6 saw Cadence SFC and Colorado Futsal Academy assert their dominance with back-to-back home victories, shaking up the standings in both divisions. Cadence made a high-scoring statement in their season debut, while Colorado bounced back from their opening loss with two commanding wins. Meanwhile, Inter Detroit and Santa Fe Gloom continue to struggle, both still searching for answers after tough weekends.
Cadence SFC (14-11, 13-8) Inter Detroit
Cadence SFC wasted no time proving themselves in their NFPL season opener, putting up 14 and 13 goals in two shootout wins over Inter Detroit. Their attacking firepower was on full display, making them an immediate contender in the Midwest Division.
For Inter Detroit, the weekend was another frustrating chapter in their tough start to the season. Despite showing offensive potential, they remain winless at 0-4 and have now conceded 47 goals, the most in the league. Their defensive struggles continue to overshadow their ability to score, and they’ll need to regroup before their next match on February 22 vs. Futsal Factory Academy.
With Cadence and Futsal Factory Academy both at 2-0, the Midwest Division is now set for a massive showdown on February 8, where one team will take sole control of first place.
Colorado Futsal Academy (4-2, 8-3) Santa Fe Gloom
After dropping their season opener, Colorado Futsal Academy bounced back in a big way, taking two wins over Santa Fe Gloom to vault into second place in the Southwest Division.
Saturday’s 4-2 victory was a defensive battle, with Colorado showing their ability to grind out a win, while Sunday’s 8-3 performance was an emphatic statement, showcasing their offensive depth. With three straight wins, Colorado has established themselves as a well-balanced squad, allowing just 13 goals in three games, the best defensive mark in the Southwest.
On the flip side, Santa Fe Gloom is in trouble. They’ve now dropped three straight matches, falling to 1-4 and struggling to find the right formula on both ends of the court. Their 39 goals conceded is the most in the Southwest, and if they don’t turn things around quickly, their playoff hopes could start slipping away. Their upcoming February 8 home match against BRUSA FC is shaping up to be a must-win.
A LOOK AT THE TABLE AFTER MATCHWEEK 6:
