Futsal Factory Academy Stays Unbeaten with 9-4 Win Over Inter Detroit

Futsal Factory Academy continued their strong start to the season with a 9-4 victory over Inter Detroit in Matchweek 5, overcoming an early deficit to remain atop the Midwest Division standings.

The match started with FFA’s in-form Thomas Dono striking early, combining with Gui Ramos off an inbounds play to put the home side ahead 1-0. However, Inter Detroit responded in stunning fashion, scoring three times in a frantic opening three minutes. Edwin Gomez equalized after capitalizing on a defensive mistake before Nate Boos added a brilliant chipped finish to take the lead. Bret Russell extended the advantage to 3-1 after another costly FFA turnover.

At that point, Futsal Factory made a crucial adjustment, subbing in starting goalkeeper Robert Damron, who immediately made his presence felt with a spectacular save. His impact stabilized the home side, who slowly regained control of the game.

Inter Detroit held their 3-1 lead for nearly 10 minutes before FFA finally broke through. Unejs Ramxhikc fired home from distance on a counterattack to cut the deficit to 3-2. Minutes later, Dono converted a 10-yard penalty to level the score at 3-3. With three minutes left in the half, Andrew Schwartz put FFA ahead with a slick midcourt move and top-shelf finish past a scrambling Inter defense.

Just before halftime, Inter Detroit responded from a corner kick, with Edwin Gomez setting up Eduardo Cardenas for an easy tap-in to send the teams into the break tied at 4-4.

The second half saw a turning point early, as Eduardo Cardenas was sent off four minutes in for a second yellow card. FFA wasted no time punishing the mistake, scoring just 20 seconds later as Dono buried a rebound for his third goal of the night to make it 5-4.

From there, Futsal Factory took full control. Khal Suleiman smashed a free kick midway through the half to make it 6-4. Moments later, Dono completed his four-goal night, firing home a deflected pass to stretch the lead to 7-4, forcing Inter Detroit to call a timeout.

With a minute left, Josh Jasinkiewicz put the game to bed with a spectacular full-field goal, lofting a first-time finish over the entire defense. The exclamation point came just 30 seconds later when Suleiman pulled off a ridiculous back-heel goal to wrap up the 9-4 win.

With this victory, Futsal Factory Academy sweeps the season series against Inter Detroit, improving to 2-0 and taking sole possession of the top spot in the Midwest Division. Inter Detroit, despite another promising start, remains winless and will need to regroup ahead of their next matchup.
