Matchweek 13 Review: Inter Detroit Breakthrough, Colorado Rolls in Albuquerque
MATCHWEEK 13 REVIEW: INTER DETROIT BREAKS THROUGH, COLORADO ROLLS IN ALBUQUERQUE
Matchweek 13 brought big results in both divisions, with Inter Detroit finally getting into the win column at home and Colorado Futsal Academy handling business on the road to stay neck and neck with BRUSA FC atop the Southwest.
INTER DETROIT 6-3 CADENCE SFC
It’s been a long time coming, but Inter Detroit earned their first win of the season, knocking off Cadence SFC 6-3 at Waterford Mott High School.
The hosts were sharp in the final third, led by Edwin Gomez, who delivered two goals and one assist in a standout performance. Nate Boos also struck twice, continuing his strong run of form and helping Inter control the scoreline for most of the game. Ivan Bressy chipped in with a goal and assist, and Liam Holloway rounded out the scoring for the home side in a confident, balanced team effort.
Cadence struggled to find rhythm and were chasing the game for long stretches. Jorge Bolívar kept them in it early, scoring both of the team’s first-half goals, the first assisted by Giovanni Aguilar. Anderson Piñango added a late goal, assisted by José Rodriguez, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.
The result shakes up the Midwest playoff race, with Inter Detroit showing they’re far more than their record suggests, and Cadence now facing pressure as the race for second heats up.
NEW MEXICO FLAGSHIP FC 5-9 COLORADO FUTSAL ACADEMY
In Albuquerque, Colorado Futsal Academy put on a clinical performance, starting and finishing strong in a 9-5 road win over New Mexico Flagship FC.
Colorado came out flying, with Pedro Montes opening the scoring five minutes in, assisted by Carlos Adrian. From there, it was all Colorado through the first half—Beckan Ovalles added one, followed by a Jesus Guillen brace, assisted by Marian Centexo and Ovalles. New Mexico finally pulled one back through Axel Esparza, assisted by goalkeeper Hugo Morales, but trailed 4-1 at the break.
The second half saw Ovalles score again to extend the lead before New Mexico made a late push, with goals from Elio Luna and Alexander Romero cutting it to 5-3. Carlos Adrian answered immediately for Colorado, and although Hugo Morales scored with under five minutes to play, the visitors pulled away in the closing minutes.
Guillen completed his hat trick, Ovalles followed suit with his third goal (assisted by Guillen), and Isaac Medina finished it off with a goal in the final 20 seconds to secure the emphatic win.
New Mexico battled hard, but with only a few games left, their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. Colorado, meanwhile, stays locked in with BRUSA FC at the top of the Southwest standings—and their goal-scoring form couldn’t be better heading into the final stretch.
